Holy Ground Oyster Company was founded in 2021 by Thomas Piecuch with the help of his father, Sean. What started as a unique side hustle quickly evolved into a full time operation. Our love for oysters and backgrounds in Marine Science and Engineering are a perfect combination to grow the Mississippi aquaculture industry while remaining stewards of the environment.

Our farm on the Mississippi Sound allots a unique combination of high wind and wave energy combined with strong currents and consistent nutrient availability for strong oyster growth. It is our commitment to grow the best oysters we can while providing Southern Sustainable Shellfish.

Keep On Shucking.

What’s in a name?

According to “History of Ocean Springs,” it is said the local waters were once used by Native Americans for medicinal purposes. In fact, the area was referred to as "E-Ca-Na-Cha-Ha" meaning "holy ground." The waters were thought to cure a variety of ailments. We like to think an oyster grown in these local waters may carry on this spirit, albeit we cannot guarantee any medicinal properties!
